About Watsmen
Watsmen is building an engineering-led industrial group. We connect technical capability, disciplined execution and practical commercial judgement to deliver valuable industrial solutions.
Role Purpose
Build decision-grade mining and resource intelligence from field data, technical studies and independent verification. Give Mezzarion and Watsmen a clear account of what is known, what remains uncertain and what evidence is needed before resources can support credible development or commercial commitments.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain the resource-intelligence register with source provenance, rights context, sampling and study status, confidence limits, unresolved issues and accountable technical reviewers.
- Design proportionate diligence scopes for geology, mining, grade/quality, recoverability, resource continuity and operating constraints, commissioning qualified expertise where internal competence is absent.
- Review field and laboratory evidence for sampling design, chain of custody, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), representativeness and reconciliation; challenge unsupported resource, reserve or production assertions.
- Integrate geological and mining findings with processing, energy, water, infrastructure, environmental and logistics inputs to create decision-ready technical options and explicit dependencies.
- Produce traceable intelligence and risk briefs for portfolio, commercial and offtake decisions, distinguishing exploration potential, established estimates and deliverable product evidence.
- Build reusable assessment methods, controlled datasets and competent technical relationships; coach field contributors and preserve validated knowledge with clear version and access controls.
- Provide decision-relevant resource evidence with explicit cost, timing and uncertainty; preserve independent technical interpretation when supporting customer and investment decisions.
First 90 Days
- By day 30: Audit priority resource datasets and claims, classify evidence quality and identify material data, competence or rights-verification gaps.
- By day 60: Agree standard diligence and QA/QC requirements with field and technical owners; complete a sample decision-grade intelligence pack with documented assumptions and review comments.
- By day 90: Deliver prioritised resource assessments and a costed evidence-acquisition plan for the decisions actually pending, with explicit stop conditions and a functioning field-data review loop. Demonstrate a resource evidence package showing decision relevance, cost, timing, uncertainty and independent interpretation.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated professional competence in geology, mining, mineral-resource evaluation or a directly relevant technical field, supported by appropriate formation and project evidence.
- Ability to evaluate sampling, laboratory QA/QC, geological interpretation and the limitations of resource or production estimates.
- Experience translating technical uncertainty into clear development, commercial and risk implications for non-specialist decision-makers.
- Strong data provenance, technical writing, independent challenge and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
- Professional registration or recognised reporting competence where the assigned jurisdiction and formal technical act require it; willingness to work within an explicitly assessed scope.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in several mineral systems or in integrating resources with processing and industrial development.
- Practical geographic information system (GIS), geological database, modelling or resource-evaluation tool experience appropriate to the assigned portfolio.
Authority And Decision Boundaries
- Set intelligence methods and recommend whether the available evidence supports further work within an approved mandate.
- Public resource statements, professional certification, investment decisions and mine operating authority require their separately competent and lawful approvers; this role must not imply universal reporting competence.
Key Interfaces
Senior Geologist & Resource Manager and field specialists; Group Technical Authority and process/mineral engineering; Mezzarion portfolio and commercial owners; Country leaders, Legal and Risk; External qualified resource and mining specialists.
Mezzarion leadership, Commercial and Finance on decision-relevant resource evidence and its limits.
How Success Is Evidenced
- Traceability, review acceptance and decision usefulness of intelligence outputs.
- Timely identification and closure or explicit acceptance of material technical uncertainties.
- Field-data quality, repeatable methods and reduced single-person knowledge dependence.
- Timely, useful resource decisions supported by transparent uncertainty and independent interpretation.
Activation And Delivery Readiness
Assigned work requires confirmed resources, competent delivery capacity and the applicable approvals. The role operates within its documented delegation; appointment alone does not confer contracting, spending, technical-approval or system-access authority.
Location And Travel
Istanbul, Türkiye. Technical diligence and field-validation visits are expected where necessary; frequency, site access and safety conditions are agreed before appointment.
Employment And Working Arrangements
Full-time employment, with annual performance reviews. Twelve-month renewable contracts where legally appropriate, with probation and renewal terms determined under local law.
Roles are on-site by default. Hybrid or remote working requires prior approval. No relocation assistance or visa support is provided.
