About Watsmen

Watsmen is building an engineering-led industrial group. We connect technical capability, disciplined execution and practical commercial judgement to deliver valuable industrial solutions.

Role Purpose

Establish Watsmen’s process and industrial engineering capability. Translate operating needs into process definitions, equipment requirements and evidence-based performance expectations. Coordinate competence and interfaces; discipline technical authority requires a separate appointment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Define the process design basis for assigned opportunities and projects. Deliver controlled feed, product, throughput, utility and operating assumptions, recording data quality, variability, boundary conditions and the evidence needed to substantiate proposed performance.
  • Lead process definition and option evaluation within available competence. Produce proportionate flow diagrams, balances and technical comparisons that explain equipment choices, integration constraints, operating implications and uncertainties requiring testing or specialist investigation.
  • Plan process hazard identification and appropriate specialist review. Maintain a process-risk and assurance register with competent reviewers, required analyses and action owners; ensure safety findings influence design before readiness is recommended.
  • Develop technical equipment packages and industrial delivery interfaces. Provide specifications, supplier assessment inputs and acceptance criteria, connecting process requirements with electrical, civil, control, maintainability and operating needs through traceable interface records.
  • Maintain a truthful discipline capability and partner register. Document demonstrated expertise, capacity, exclusions and appointment boundaries; arrange competent specialist coverage for unfamiliar processes rather than substituting broad discipline labels for capability evidence.
  • Support commissioning readiness and performance learning. Define evidence needed for agreed tests, review operating and supplier information, record departures and publish reusable methods and lessons with clear limits on where they apply.
  • Develop scoped customer packages with validated performance assumptions, qualified partner inputs and defined accepted outputs; retain reusable methods for later work.

First 90 Days

  • By day 30: Map priority process and industrial scopes, source-data quality and competence gaps; establish the first capability register, critical assumptions and assurance priorities.
  • By day 60: Develop a pilot design basis, process definition and equipment-interface package, with a proportionate hazard-review plan and named competent specialist coverage.
  • By day 90: Present a technically reviewed pilot package with evidenced performance assumptions and closed or assigned risks; propose discipline methods, next-quarter priorities and bounded Discipline Technical Authority (DTA) responsibilities. Demonstrate a bounded customer package supported by validated performance assumptions, partner evidence and acceptance criteria.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant process, chemical or industrial engineering degree or equivalent demonstrable formation, with evidence of applicable industrial delivery.
  • Demonstrated competence in process definition, balances, equipment specification and operating constraints for the processes actually assigned.
  • Ability to challenge feed, throughput, recovery, efficiency or capacity assumptions and distinguish validated evidence from a proposed technical claim.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces and competent safety review, with clear writing and auditable decisions.
  • Registration where scope and jurisdiction require it; evidence of competence for any proposed technical-authority appointment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience integrating commissioning, operations or manufacturing improvement into early engineering decisions.
  • Exposure to mineral processing or other relevant processes, recognising competence limits.

Authority And Decision Boundaries

  • Lead discipline planning, technical methods and review recommendations within approved project, resource and expenditure delegations.
  • DTA authority requires a separate documented appointment defining competence, scope and limits. The title alone grants no signing, certification or design-acceptance powers.
  • Escalate unsafe processes, unsupported claims and missing competent coverage; appointed technical judgement remains independent of commercial pressure.

Key Interfaces

Head of Systems & Project Engineering and Project Engineering Manager; Electrical and Civil Engineering Leads; Mezzarion and other relevant application or project teams; Commercial, Trade, operating teams and competent process specialists.

Commercial, Marketing and delivery owners on customer packages, supported performance claims and accepted outputs.

How Success Is Evidenced

  • Quality and traceability of process assumptions, balances and design evidence.
  • Closure quality of material process risks and multidisciplinary interfaces.
  • Reliability of technical performance claims and coverage of specialist competence gaps.
  • Accepted customer outputs, validated performance and useful reuse of engineering methods.

Activation And Delivery Readiness

Assigned work requires confirmed resources, competent delivery capacity and the applicable approvals. The role operates within its documented delegation; appointment alone does not confer contracting, spending, technical-approval or system-access authority.

Location And Travel

Istanbul, Türkiye. Industrial-site, supplier and Anchor visits for evidence gathering, reviews or authorised testing as needed; exact frequency will be discussed before appointment.

Employment And Working Arrangements

Full-time employment, with annual performance reviews. Twelve-month renewable contracts where legally appropriate, with probation and renewal terms determined under local law.

Roles are on-site by default. Hybrid or remote working requires prior approval. No relocation assistance or visa support is provided.
