About Watsmen

Watsmen is building an engineering-led industrial group. We connect technical capability, disciplined execution and practical commercial judgement to deliver valuable industrial solutions.

Role Purpose

Provide accountable country coordination for Watsmen in Zimbabwe. Maintain reliable local evidence, lawful interfaces and practical execution across resources, projects, products and subsidiary relationships, while keeping the responsibilities of the Group Anchor and each local operating or project company clear.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain the country mandate and readiness record, with legal-entity facts, local obligations, advisers, permits/interfaces, employment prerequisites and open actions verified by the competent owners.
  • Coordinate resource-origin and field information for Mezzarion, ensuring observations, supplier relationships, rights questions and technical evidence reach the correct Group owner promptly.
  • Maintain one controlled country opportunity and stakeholder record, with named owners and evidence for customer, project, product and subsidiary interfaces rather than parallel informal pursuits.
  • Coordinate approved country work plans, site visits and counterparties; resolve local execution barriers and escalate commitments or risks outside the mandate before representing an approval.
  • Run country reporting that reconciles activities, expenditure requests, compliance status, safety/security issues and agreed milestones with Group control functions.
  • Define and maintain clear interfaces with local operating companies (OpCos) and project companies, preserving their statutory employment and daily operating responsibilities; build reliable cover and documented handovers.
  • Provide local customer and execution evidence, readiness and milestones through the shared opportunity record; preserve local operating-company authority and responsibility when coordinating Group initiatives.

First 90 Days

  • By day 30: Produce a verified country fact base covering active work, legal/operating interfaces, counterparties, priority risks and missing readiness evidence.
  • By day 60: Put country action reporting, stakeholder records and field-to-Group escalation into use; agree boundaries with each relevant platform and local operating owner.
  • By day 90: Demonstrate controlled delivery of the agreed priority country work, current compliance actions and traceable resource/project evidence, with unresolved blockers assigned to a competent decision owner. Demonstrate local customer evidence, execution readiness and milestone ownership in the shared opportunity record.

Essential Requirements

  • Evidence of coordinating industrial, resources, engineering or project activity in Zimbabwe or a comparable operating environment, with the ability to establish current local knowledge.
  • Sound understanding of how legal, regulatory, employment, stakeholder and operational obligations interact, and judgment about when specialist counsel is required.
  • Ability to build constructive local relationships, validate information and maintain reliable records without dependence on informal personal access.
  • Practical planning, reporting, financial discipline and cross-functional leadership skills in a developing organisation.
  • Strong integrity, safety awareness and willingness to escalate unsupported commitments or misleading local-capability claims.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Zimbabwe resource, industrial or infrastructure value chains and relevant local-language capability.
  • Experience coordinating multiple legal entities or country operations under shared Group controls.

Authority And Decision Boundaries

  • Coordinate the approved country mandate and recommend local actions, partners and priorities.
  • Country title alone grants no corporate directorship, signatory right, statutory licence, technical authority or ownership of operating company (OpCo) operations; entity formation, hiring, spending and commitments follow designated approvals.

Key Interfaces

Mezzarion Group Office and Senior Geologist & Resource Manager; Group Finance, Legal, Risk and People; Engineering and commercial owners; Local operating/project-company leaders; Southern Africa Regional Manager.

Commercial and COO on local initiative readiness; local operating-company leaders on execution and statutory boundaries.

How Success Is Evidenced

  • Reliable local evidence and delivery of approved country milestones.
  • Timely closure or escalation of compliance and execution risks.
  • Clear entity boundaries, accurate records and continuity of stakeholder relationships.
  • Accepted local outcomes and reliable readiness or procurement milestones with clear operating-company responsibilities.

Activation And Delivery Readiness

Assigned work requires confirmed resources, competent delivery capacity and the applicable approvals. The role operates within its documented delegation; appointment alone does not confer contracting, spending, technical-approval or system-access authority.

Location And Travel

Harare, Zimbabwe. Travel within Zimbabwe to relevant sites and counterparties is expected, with occasional regional or Group meetings as approved; arrangements and frequency are agreed before appointment.
