About Watsmen

Watsmen is building an engineering-led industrial group. We connect technical capability, disciplined execution and practical commercial judgement to deliver valuable industrial solutions.

Role Purpose

Build Watsmen’s electrical and energy engineering capability for industrial assets. Lead system definition, design coordination and assurance within demonstrated internal or partner competence. The Discipline Technical Authority (DTA) function requires a separate documented discipline technical-authority appointment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish discipline design bases and review criteria for assigned work. Deliver controlled requirements covering operating conditions, system boundaries, applicable standards, reliability expectations and interfaces, with assumptions and local professional obligations clearly identified.
  • Lead electrical and energy concept development and engineering coordination. Produce defensible option assessments and design recommendations supported by calculations, equipment information, integration constraints and a documented basis for performance or efficiency claims.
  • Direct proportionate studies and specialist reviews. Maintain a study and assurance plan identifying required analyses, competent authors, independent checking where appropriate, model-quality expectations and unresolved technical limitations before design progression.
  • Maintain an honest discipline capability register. Record demonstrated competence, appointment boundaries, capacity and gaps; propose competent partner coverage and verify the evidence supporting proposed scope rather than presenting unbuilt capability as available.
  • Coordinate equipment and delivery interfaces with procurement, project and site teams. Produce reviewed technical specifications, supplier clarification records and acceptance requirements, including testing, commissioning and handover evidence appropriate to the scope.
  • Develop reusable discipline practice and technical learning. Issue controlled templates and lessons, coach engineers and track material risks, deviations and review actions through documented resolution by the correctly appointed authority.
  • Define bounded electrical reference offers, competent supplier or partner coverage and acceptance criteria; provide Marketing with substantiated performance evidence while retaining discipline technical-authority boundaries.

First 90 Days

  • By day 30: Assess priority electrical and energy scopes, existing competence and local obligations; publish the initial capability-gap register and proposed discipline review arrangements.
  • By day 60: Establish a pilot design basis, study plan and supplier-interface requirements, with named competent reviewers and explicitly bounded external support where necessary.
  • By day 90: Demonstrate a reviewed pilot technical package and traceable resolution of key risks; present a prioritised capability-development plan and any proposed DTA appointment boundaries. Demonstrate a bounded reference scope with competent coverage, acceptance criteria and reviewed evidence suitable for approved customer material.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant electrical or energy engineering degree or equivalent demonstrable formation, with evidence of delivering technically accountable industrial electrical work.
  • Demonstrated competence in the electrical systems and analyses relevant to the intended assignment, with clear recognition of specialist limits.
  • Evidence of reviewing design assumptions, technical studies and supplier information, and translating findings into practical engineering decisions.
  • Ability to lead engineers and partners, preserve independent technical judgement and communicate risks under delivery pressure.
  • Registration where the actual scope and jurisdiction require it; evidence of competence for any technical-authority appointment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience integrating industrial power systems with generation, storage or energy-efficiency measures.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, operating-asset investigations or cross-jurisdiction engineering assurance.

Authority And Decision Boundaries

  • Lead discipline methods, work allocation and review recommendations within approved resource and project mandates.
  • DTA powers arise only through a separate, bounded appointment by the appropriate authority. This title alone confers no signing, certification or design-acceptance authority.
  • Technical competence, acceptance and claims remain subject to appointed authority; escalate unsafe or unsupported work independently of commercial pressure.

Key Interfaces

Head of Systems & Project Engineering and Project Engineering Manager; Power Systems Engineer and competent specialist partners; Process, Civil and other discipline leads; Commercial, Trade, Anchor and project-company teams.

Marketing and Commercial on substantiated offer material; qualified suppliers and delivery owners on acceptance.

How Success Is Evidenced

  • Quality, completeness and independent reviewability of discipline design evidence.
  • Timely closure of material electrical risks, deviations and interface actions.
  • Accuracy of capability claims and coverage of competence or capacity gaps.
  • Accepted reference offers, competent coverage and performance claims supported by technical evidence.

Activation And Delivery Readiness

Assigned work requires confirmed resources, competent delivery capacity and the applicable approvals. The role operates within its documented delegation; appointment alone does not confer contracting, spending, technical-approval or system-access authority.

Location And Travel

Istanbul, Türkiye. Supplier, project and Anchor visits for surveys, reviews and test witnessing where required; exact travel frequency will be discussed before appointment.

Employment And Working Arrangements

Full-time employment, with annual performance reviews. Twelve-month renewable contracts where legally appropriate, with probation and renewal terms determined under local law.

Roles are on-site by default. Hybrid or remote working requires prior approval. No relocation assistance or visa support is provided.
